Wenger Confident Over Fabregas.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has insisted that Manchester United is wasting time trying to sign Fabregas as former Arsenal captain is staying at Camp Nou for atleast another year.

It was being reported yesterday that Manchester United cheif executive, Ed Woodward is heading back to England from United’s pre-season in order to push through a deal to sign Cesc Fabregas.

Manchester United previously had a bid rejected for the Barcelona midfielder and now Arsene Wenger is confident that Fabregas will not be leaving his current club.

Wenger said:

At the moment, Fabregas has decided to stay one more year at Barcelona.

We have the clause in the contract so we would be on alert but at the moment that’s not something we’re after.

Arsenal tried to sign me – Yanga-Mbiwa

Arsenal transfer target, Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa has revealed that Arsenal tried to sign him over the summer. The Montpellier defender wanted to move to AC Milan instead, but the move never materialised.

The France international told L’Equipe:

“Arsenal tried to sign me, but I had my attention elsewhere,”

“Milan wanted me, but even though my president was ready to sell me, the deal didn’t go through in the end.”

“I was really disappointed about not joining Milan, but our president is the owner of the club and he must be respected.

“Milan made an offer but it was rejected. It was then I understood that it would be difficult for me to leave Montpellier.”

Sagna blow for Arsenal – hints at leaving the club.

Arsenal defender, Bacary Sagna has revealed his frustration over the number of players leaving the club and also hinted at possibly leaving the club himself.

The France international who is currently injured told L’Equipe:

“Everyone was expecting Robin Van Persie to leave, but Alex Song, that was a surprise. I don’t understand that at all. It is a big loss for the club.

“When you see two of the best players from last season leave, you ask a lot of questions. I understand why the supporters are nervous.

“I am the only starting player left from 2007. In May, I watched City’s parade on TV. I saw Samir and Gael lift the trophy. I want that [feeling].

“Could I be tempted to leave? For the moment, I want to play with Arsenal, and find my level again.”

The player revealed he will have 1 year remaining on his contract after current season and no one from the club has contacted him regarding his contract situation.

Wenger looking for a ‘special player’. Essien, Tiote and Sturridge linked.

With the transfer deadline day upon us, there are several players being linked with Arsenal. Chelsea duo Michael Essien and Daniel Sturridge are being linked with a loan move to the Emirates.

Arsenal are reported to be interested in signing Essien in a loan deal to bolster their midfield. However with the player’s injury record, I hope he does not come to the Emirates as we already have a ton of injured midfielders.

Arsenal are also being linked with Chelsea striker Sturridge, the deal seems unlikely and I expect the player to stay at Chelsea.

There were also reports yesterday from French Tv BeIN Sport, stating that Arsenal are close to signing Newcastle midfielder Chiek Tiote.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his desire to sign a special player and insisted that the club is working hard to bring in new players. Talking to the media, the manager said:

“We are active but of course we do not just want to bring average players in. If we find a special player who can find us a plus we will do it, if not we will not do it.

“It depends what kind of players are available – it is difficult to know. I am relaxed, yes. We have of course enough, that is for sure, but you want always to improve your squad and if we find a top, top, top player we will do it.

“We are working very, very hard, we have resources available so if it is not happening now it will happen in December. But we believe strongly that we have the quality in our squad to do very well.”

Bendtner close to completing Juventus move

Arsenal striker Nicklas Bendtner is close to completing a one year loan move to the Italians champions Juventus.

Danish forward who had a loan spell at Sunderland last season is expected to finalise a move to Italy today. Juventus sporting director Beppe Marotta said:

“Bendtner is already in Italy and will undergo a medical.

Until the final paperwork is concluded, I will not say the player is ours.”

Sahin Passes Arsenal Medical

According to reports in German media, Real Madrid midfielder, Nuri Sahin has passed his medical at Arsenal as he finalises a year long loan move to the Emirates stadium.

The former Borrusia Dortmund star had been linked with a move to Liverpool aswell, however the chance of playing Champions League football at Emirates made him choose Arsenal over Liverpool.

The deal is expected to be officially announced within the next 24 hours and the player is expected to be in Arsenal squad for trip to Stoke on Sunday.

Wenger lining up a €8 million van Persie replacement.

Arsenal Captain Robin van Persie is on the verge of joining Manchester United after Sir Alex confirmed that they have submitted a bid for the Arsenal forward.

It was being reported earlier that Wenger signed Olivier Giroud as a van Persie replacement, however with several other Arsenal strikers also looking to leave, Arsenal are looking to add more depth to their front line.

Arsene Wenger is reportedly monitoring Olympiacos forward Kevin Mirallas. The Belgium international is only 24 years old and has scored 34 goals for his club since joining them in 2010. The young striker was top scorer in Greece and was also named player of the season last year.

Mirallas is reportedly available for a fee in the region of €8 million, which can prove to be a great bargain for Arsenal should van Persie leave. Arsenal will however face competition from the likes of CSKA Moscow and Liverpool.
