Strikers looking to leave… Replacements?

It looks increasingly likely that several of the Arsenal strikers will leave the club this summer. There are those who have openly stated their unhappiness due to lack of playing time; including Marouane Chamakh, Park, Bendtner and Vela and then there is the Arsenal captain Robin van Persie, who has only a year left on his contract and if the reports are to be believed, he is refusing to extend his contract.

Arsenal would most likely want to cash in on their star striker instead of letting him leave the club for free. Arsenal have already signed German striker Lukas Podolski, but if we let go all of our strikers, we will definitely need to find some top quality replacements.

We have been linked with Montpellier striker, Oliver Giroud, who was highest goal scorer in the French Ligue 1 last season. There were rumors of a swap deal involving Chamakh plus £6.4 million for the French striker.

Which seems like an ideal deal for both the players and the clubs. Arsenal want a proven goal scorer, Giroud fits the bill perfectly. Giroud wants to play in the English Premier League and Chamakh has stated his desire to leave the club and if he goes back to France he might start scoring again.

We have also been linked with Loic Remy and Wenger is a known admirer of this player. If he comes he can be decent replacement for someone like Bendtner/ Chamakh.

As for van Persie I really do hope he stays at the club and extends his contract. After the season he has had, he can easily establish himself as an Arsenal legend and be remembered at the club for long time to come, that is if he decides to extend his contract.

If he does leave and move to a club like Barcelona or Real Madrid, over there he will be just like any other striker. No one will really remember him once he is gone and no legendary status for him. I am sure he is well aware of all that.

Maybe he never refused to sign the contract extension maybe he just needs more time. Whatever happens, Arsenal needs to sort his situation out really quickly. If he does want to leave, let him go and bring in a replacement as soon as possible.

No doubt it will be a big blow to the club, but like they say ‘no player is bigger than the club’. I am sure Arsenal will recover as long as we bring in a world class replacement.

I personally would love for Arsenal to sign Fernando Torres, he is a proven goalscorer who is just going through a rough patch. He has not been given a proper chance at Chelsea and I am sure Wenger will help him find his old self again. Remember form is temporary and class is permanent.

Do let me know who you would want Arsenal to sign, by voting in the poll or in the comments section.

park chu young, benik afobe, joel campbell and theo walcott
one of them should be given chance to take over or we can rotate them.
its only a lone striker position not a playmaker so we don’t need to change the whole system.
just someone in the box. whats more serious is buying a playmaker( cesc’s replacement) as ramsey doesnt look like he’s ready for the role.
losing van persie is not a big deal, chamakh did carry us when he was injured. its because he had cesc and wilshere making things easy for him to score. so whoever arsene buys or promotes wouldn’t matter as long as we dont have a good midfielders.
people are panicking because he’s robin van persie (big name) but we did survive without him for longtime when he was out injured.

Completely agree with you! I would love to give Joel Campbell a chance, he looks pretty decent.
However i do not think it current we have anyone in the squad who can step up if van Persie leaves. We definitely need atleast 1 new striker if he leaves. The main reason I would want RVP to stay is because we cannot afford to keep losing our top players year after year. If we are serious about challenging for the title we cannot afford something like. We certainly need a playmaker, maybe if you bring in M’Vila, Then we can move Song/ Wilshere into that role. Kagawa looks pretty good aswell

well we all want him to stay as he’s our top player but if he’s already made up his mind we just have to move on
van persie, podolski, chamberlain will be awesome strike force.
lets just hope he will stay. you also have to suspect the greedy board they might be giving him a silly offer hoping he will refuse to sign so they can cash in on him.
